What's a Cake Smash?
A Cake Smash is such a fun way to celebrate your BABY’S FIRST BIRTHDAY. It’s a lot like baby sensory really, but using a yummy cake instead of play dough or paints.
Some babies quickly get stuck in, while others take a more gentle approach. Either way you’ll love seeing your baby’s personality shine through as we interact with them, singing favourite songs, playing peek-a-boo and generally having fun.
Whereas a first birthday party would last only an hour or so, the photographs we take will capture all of their smiles and excitement for you to enjoy forever.
A Cake Smash at Picture Studios really is a lovely experience for everyone – plus, we do all the cleaning up!

We have a whole range of other ideas to CELEBRATE CHILDREN’S BIRTHDAYS, from ages 2 and up – although, of course, you don’t have to wait for a special occasion.

I’m a Mum of three myself – mine are not babies any more now – and Oh! how I wish that I had SO many more photographs of them as they each grew up. Pure & Simple
Pure & Simple perfectly describes our natural, organic photography style. Using a neutral palette of mainly whites and creams, sometimes with a little bit of pastel thrown into the mix, or sometimes we add a few natural elements too, such as fresh florals and leaves, choose this option if you prefer clean lines and minimal fuss.
With fewer distractions, the “Pure & Simple” theme places the emphasis of all images firmly on your baby. We capture every expression, and every detail from the kiss curls on their heads, right down to their gorgeous squidgy legs and chubby little toes.
These truly are classic, timeless and emotive images you’ll treasure for always.
Colour Themed
A colourful option to suit your child’s personality or perhaps to colour co-ordinate your photographs with where you want to display them in your home.
For cake smashes, co-ordinating outfits from the studio wardrobe, plus traditional decorations such as paper pom-poms and balloons, along with a coloured backdrop of your choice are specially selected for you and included as standard.
Picture Perfect
Why not make YOUR cake smash story unique by choosing one of our signature “Picture Perfect” themes.
This can also be the ideal choice to co-ordinate with Nursery decor.
